Welcome to my blog!
Firstly, I would like to thank you for visiting my website and reading this blog. I never imagined I would be writing openly about my thoughts, feelings, or what I am going through, but here I am. My aim is to guide you through your physical yoga practice, but I also feel the need to share the internal, or mental, side of yoga.
It so happens to be very personal, but I hope it will be of value to you and that we will go on this journey together.
Let me describe myself, so you’ll get to know my background a little..
I am married to my best friend and love of my life, Djaliel, and together we’ve raised two beautiful human beings, Raphy and Farah who are these smart, kind and loving souls. We are based in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai, living and working in this international hub and enjoying the most part of it. At times the heat, missing family can get challenging, but then winter season is coming and family for holidays too, so it’s all good.
I have been a primary teacher, working in international schools all my life and I have made a career shift into yoga since a year. During my yoga teacher training I could no longer deny the feeling that I needed to do something different completely different with my life. I still wanted to work with children, as with adults, but my focus had to be on well-being, empowerment of the self and supporting the social/emotional development.
This strong inner force made me believe that this could this be my purpose in life, to re-connect (young) people with their inner strength through yoga. Yoga has proven to be a very powerful tool for transformation to me, I see and experience it every day, I need to share this with others. J
In my blogs I will take you along this yoga journey, I’ll not hold anything back, it will be like a journal, and for that reason hearing back from you is so important. This could be the start of a new kind of blog, the one where people can share their thoughts, ways of dealing, feelings and life challenges in a safe place. A place with like-minded people, where nothing is crazy, and all are welcome. My dream is for this to be the start of an online community where we can connect, share and learn together through which we can blossom and grow into our own unique selves.
I thank you for reading and so hoping you are willing to join me…
With lots of love,
Lonneke
